Death Stranding 2: Maximize Your Chiral Crystal Gains – Top 7 BT Spots

If you're aiming to farm Chiral Crystals and hit that 100K cap as quickly as possible, you're in the right place. After spending countless hours exploring and perfecting BT farming methods in Death Stranding 2, I’ve come up with the top spots to help you gather the most Chiral Crystals in the least amount of time. By following these seven BT farming strategies, you can earn between 56K to 58K Chiral Crystals per cycle!

General Farming Build & Spot Setup

Before we dive into specific BT farming locations, let's make sure you’re equipped with the right tools to optimize your runs. I suggest preparing a late-game build for efficiency, especially for endgame farming. If you don’t have the specific gear I recommend, don’t worry—you can still use whatever you have and adjust accordingly.

  • Weapon Choice: Use any MP Shelling weapon that suits your playstyle. I personally favor the Machine Gun Level 2, not necessarily for its firepower, but because of its massive ammo capacity. Its primary function is to activate the Off-roader’s machine guns, which will serve as your main weapon for all farming locations. If the Machine Gun isn’t available, feel free to use the Assault Rifle Level 2 or Shotgun Level 2. I also recommend bringing the Big Bore Handgun as a sidearm for variety.

  • Blood Grenades: Make sure you have at least 4 sets of Blood Grenades. These will be crucial for defending against snatchers, which can be a real pain while farming BTs.

  • Climbing Gloves: Equip these for easy Chiral Crystal collection while you’re driving the Off-roader. If you don’t have them, try to unlock them as they make gathering Crystals across all farming spots much smoother.

  • Bokka Skeleton: For snowy regions, the Bokka Skeleton will give you the mobility you need. Pair it with Absolute Boots for excellent grip.

  • Backpack Setup: Equip Extra Battery Level 3 along with Mini Batteries to keep your Climbing Gloves powered. Also, slot in a Large Spare Ammo Container Level 2 to ensure you have enough ammo during your farming trips.

Preparing Raw Materials

Beyond your build, you'll need some essential materials for the journey. Having Level 2 PCCs and a substantial amount of Resins and Special Alloys will be key for constructing multiple Safe Houses and Off-roaders. Trust me—this will pay off during your farming runs.

Safe Houses are vital because you’ll be dealing with a lot of Timefall that can wear down your Off-roader. Additionally, they provide ammo replenishment and can even spawn BTs when necessary. Some spots on this list require a Safe House, and I’ll discuss those in more detail later.

East Fort Knot Floater Spot

Our first spot involves Floater BTs near East Fort Knot. These are incredibly easy to kill, making them perfect for Chiral Crystal farming.

  • Location: The Floater BTs are located near Tar Beach, which is not too far from East Fort Knot. You won’t need any additional structures here, as it’s easy to get there quickly from the settlement.

  • Method: Drive your Customized Off-roader to the Floater’s location. Use the Machine Gun to take them down with just one or two shots. The Off-roader’s machine guns will automatically target and kill nearby Floaters. Once down, collect the Chiral Crystal drops.

Note: Some Floaters hover further out on the beach, making it impossible to collect all the crystals from them. But on average, this spot gives about 1200–1300 Chiral Crystals per cycle.

Tar Lake Floater Spot

Another great spot for Floater BTs is near the Great Tar Lake. This location is close to both the Fisherman’s Shelter and Animal Shelter.

  • Setup: A Safe House isn’t required here, but I suggest building one anyway for others who may visit your world. You can use this as a hub to store materials, repair your Off-roader, and spawn BTs when needed.

  • Method: Here, you’ll be dealing with red Floaters that explode before dying. Start by shooting the red Floaters carefully. Don’t destroy them completely just yet—wait for regular Floaters to be near them, then finish off the red ones so the explosion will take out other nearby BTs.

Farming Results: Each run here takes about 2 to 3 minutes and provides roughly 1914 to 2000 Chiral Crystals. Not as high as some other spots, but still worth doing as part of the broader farming cycle.

Northern Observatory BT Spot

Now, we’re heading to the Northern Observatory, where you’ll hunt a variety of BTs, including regular-sized ones, medium ones, and low-level gazers.

  • Location: This spot doesn’t require any structure, as the Magellan is parked nearby, making it easy to reach.

  • Method: Explore the area, taking down Baby BTs, regular ones, and low-level Gazer BTs. Use your Off-roader's machine guns to eliminate them. You’ll also encounter one Golden BT, though it’s a bit of a letdown. Be sure to scan the area thoroughly; some BTs may be hiding far from your initial scan. If you run out of ammo, simply head back to the Magellan to restock.

Farming Results: It takes around 18 to 20 minutes to clear this area, and you’ll earn about 1900–2000 Chiral Crystals per run. While this spot isn’t the fastest, it’s a valuable addition to the full farming cycle.

F5 Ghost Mech Factory Spot

Next, we have the Ghost Mech Factory near F5 Distribution Center, home to multiple Golden BTs, Giant Gazers, and regular BTs.

  • Location: The Magellan is conveniently located nearby, so no additional structures are needed.

  • Method: Use your Customized Off-roader and head straight to the Ghost Mech Factory. Focus on clearing out the Golden BTs, as they drop a substantial amount of Chiral Crystals. You’ll also find two Giant Gazers inside the factory that drop plenty of Crystals as well. Make sure you get every single drop!

Farming Results: Each run here takes about 7.5 to 8 minutes and yields 4400 to 4500 Chiral Crystals. This is an easy and rewarding farming spot.

Desert Ghost Mech Factory

This spot takes us to the Desert Ghost Mech Factory near Pekora’s Shelter and Data Scientist. Here, you’ll face Red BTs, which can be tricky to deal with.

  • Setup: I suggest building a Safe House and upgrading it to level 3 for convenience. The Magellan is nearby, but the Safe House will make farming smoother.

  • Method: Approach the Red BTs cautiously, as they can’t be killed directly. You’ll need to sneak up on them and cut their umbilical cords. Once the Red BTs are dealt with, you’ll find more Giant Gazers inside the factory, which drop a lot of Chiral Crystals.

Farming Results: Clearing the area takes around 11 to 12 minutes and gives you 5000 to 5500 Chiral Crystals per run. This spot offers solid rewards for a bit more effort.

Ghost Hunter Farming Spot

Now, let’s get to the Golden BT Farm, one of the best spots for farming Chiral Crystals.

  • Location: This spot is located near East Fort Knot and Ghost Hunter Shelter.

  • Setup: Before heading there, build a Safe House. The Magellan access points are far, and a Safe House will allow for quick access and easy Off-roader repairs.

  • Method: You’ll primarily be hunting Golden BTs, which drop tons of Chiral Crystals. Simply take out each BT with the Off-roader’s machine guns, and don’t forget to pick up all the Chiral Crystals with your Climbing Gloves. Be sure to build a Generator to keep your equipment powered up.

Farming Results: Each run lasts around 28 to 31 minutes and can yield 15,000 to 16,000 Chiral Crystals. This is one of the most efficient spots in the game!

Snowy Mountain BT Spot

Finally, the Snowy Mountain BT Spot is by far the best farming location in Death Stranding 2.

  • Location: This location is filled with Red BTs, Giant Gazers, and regular BTs, making it the perfect spot for farming a large number of Chiral Crystals.

  • Method: The snowy terrain can be challenging, but with the Bokka Skeleton and Absolute Boots, you’ll move smoothly. Take down the Red BTs and Giant Gazers, and then gather the remaining drops.

Farming Results: At this spot, expect to get 14,000 to 16,000 Chiral Crystals in each cycle. It’s perfect for those long farming sessions.

Conclusion

That’s a wrap on the best BT farming spots for Death Stranding 2. With these locations, you should be able to quickly amass Chiral Crystals and reach the 100K cap in no time. Remember to keep your gear and weapons upgraded for optimal farming, and always be prepared for Timefall, as it can make your runs much longer than expected.
