If you're following the Age of X chapter, this guide will help you navigate the grind and avoid some common mistakes that can slow down your progress.
My Progress So Far
As you know, I’m free-to-play, and I’ve made good progress in these chapters. I’ve successfully completed a few of them, but there’s still a long way to go. The main challenge right now is gathering those coveted gear tier 20 pieces for Xavier. While participating in leaderboard events has been helpful for farming, it’s still a slow grind. I’m still a couple of months away from unlocking him, but the effort will be worth it once Xavier is part of my roster.

Orcus is great in raids and useful across various game modes, but I ended up overusing Apocalypse. He’s a powerful character, but he’s a huge investment, especially for a mutant-focused team.
Mistake alert: I could have skipped Apocalypse and gone with Omega Red or Cabal, both of which are more affordable and still highly effective. Omega Red would have been a much cheaper option and still useful in these nodes.

Orcus Team: Orcus members work well for tech-based gear, which is what this chapter requires. But if you want to save your resources, there are cheaper options to consider, such as Cabal or even Zombie Juggernaut.
Keep in mind that Apocalypse is overkill here, and you can still complete this section with cheaper characters like Omega Red.
Hero Global Nodes
For the Hero Global section, my game plan is to use a Liberty 3-piece team, along with Emma Frost and Jean Grey. These characters are great in the current meta, especially Jean Grey, who is already valuable in raids.

Liberty Team: This team provides solid synergy in global nodes, similar to the Vigilante team for City nodes. You can also try adding characters like Captain Sam or Peggy Carter, but be mindful of traits and gear costs.
One thing to watch out for is enemies with cloning abilities—Old Man Logan and other characters like him can cause issues, especially when you're up against the Shadow King. It’s important to balance your team to avoid getting wiped out by cloned characters. If you're cautious with your selections, you can make progress without too many issues.
Villain Cosmic Nodes
Now let’s talk about Villain Cosmic nodes, which are likely the most straightforward of all the sections. I’m planning to use a 3-piece Annihilators team, along with Shadow King and Null. These characters are solid all-arounders and should make clearing these nodes relatively easy.
